| It's Official! All-Stars Ibanez Hits .500 Thursday, July 16th, 2009: Raul Ibanez of the American Division All-Stars is the latest member of baseball's .400 club -- that elite group of players who hit over .400 in a single season.
The 37-year-old Ibanez reeled off hit after hit all year long, totaling 1 with no doubles, no triples and 1 home run. He also collected 1 RBIs and 1 run in his epic season.
The All-Stars leftfielder confessed to the sportswriters, "It's really hard to hit .400, but with the press coverage, it makes it a lot harder. You just try to put it out of your mind during the game. Patience is the key word... patience at the plate and patience with the press and the public. It was a hectic time. I think I'll enjoy it now that it's over." | |
