One Run Not Enough for Kings
|
The Virginia Kings and Texas Jackalope delighted fans at Jackalope Stadium.
The Texas Jackalope had to overcome a fine effort from Virginia pitcher Zack Wheeler to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Jackalope Stadium. Wheeler went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Dinelson Lamet earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Picking up the save was Giovanny Gallegos. He's now 14 for 17 in save chances.
Early in the game, designated hitter Josh Donaldson had a solo home run for Texas. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Jackalope on top, 1-0.
Donaldson called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Jackalope move to 62-77 with the win, while the Kings drop to 72-67.
