Darkhorses Drop Another One, 6-2
|
The New York Thunder Choppers relied on the hitting of designated hitter Pete Alonso to stop the Los Angeles Darkhorses, 6-2. For the game, Alonso was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Shane Bieber got the win, improving to 15-8. He held the Darkhorses to 2 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 10 and walking 1. The Darkhorses, at 59-83, have lost 4 straight games.
Flexing his muscles for New York was the aforementioned Alonso. The designated hitter had a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth for the Thunder Choppers. It put his team ahead, 6-2, and sent them on to victory.
In his postgame comments, Thunder Choppers manager heaped praise on Alonso. "For a young player, he's done a lot of good things for us."
