Schwarber Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
Monday, August 31st, 2020
Kyle Schwarber did everything he could for the New York Thunder Choppers today -- literally.

The 27-year-old catcher hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Thunder Choppers, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Chicago Komodos, 24-4, at The Landing Pad.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Schwarber reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Schwarber banged out 4 hits in 6 at-bats and totaled 5 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Kyle Schwarber flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Anibal Sanchez in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and hit an RBI triple in the 8th.

Presently Schwarber is batting .209 with 39 hits and 11 home runs. He has knocked in 35 runs and scored 27 times.
