Going, Going, Gone! Mateo Hits 3 Homers Monday, May 18th, 2020 Fans are still buzzing after Las Vegas whipped the Reno Aces by the score of 21-3 today at Greater Nevada Field. Jorge Mateo smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the shortstop bashed out 4 hits in 5 at-bats, had 8 RBIs and scored 3 times. At the postgame press conference, Mateo said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Mateo said. "Three is just... wow." Jorge Mateo hit a solo-shot off Taylor Widener in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Taylor Widener in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Luis A. Mateo in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and walked in the 8th. In 36 games Mateo is hitting .327 this season with 56 hits, 10 home runs, 39 RBIs, 7 walks, .357 OBP and has scored 31 runs. |
