Redbirds Pitching Ravaged by Hernandez Tuesday, May 19th, 2020 Fans at First Horizon Park got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The Nashville Sounds outplayed the Memphis Redbirds en route to a 5-2 win, but the standout was second baseman Yonny Hernandez. Hernandez netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Redbirds manager Ben Johnson said in his postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Yonny Hernandez singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI triple in the 8th. Posting a .340 batting average to date, Hernandez has no home runs and 10 RBIs. |
