Big Day with Bat: Jay 5-for-5 Saturday, June 13th, 2020 Fans at Greater Nevada Field got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The Reno Aces outplayed the San Antonio Missions en route to a 7-5 win, but the standout was center fielder Jon Jay. Jay netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Missions manager Rick Sweet said in his postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Jon Jay singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. In the 2020 season Jay is hitting .352 with 1 home run. |
