Nationals End Thompson's Streak Wednesday, July 8th, 2020 Down East Wood Ducks center fielder Bubba Thompson and his hot bat finally met their match today at New Fredericksburg Ballpark. The Fredericksburg Nationals snapped his 25-game hitting string, holding Thompson hitless in 4 at-bats and also whipping Down East for good measure. "We're real pleased with this one," Nationals manager Tripp Keister said. "Nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a streak like that, and clobbering Down East makes it even sweeter." This season Thompson has hit 6 home runs and posted a .243 batting average. |
