CAR Announces Best Pitcher for May Monday, June 1st, 2020 Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Jose Ruiz, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Winston-Salem Dash closer, 25, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .057 average and walked away with the Carolina League Pitcher of the Month award for May. Ruiz posted a 2-0 mark and a 0.00 ERA in 13 relief appearances. In 11.2 innings, he had 9 saves, 12 strikeouts, and 6 walks. Currently Ruiz has 9 saves. In 18 relief appearances he has hurled 18.1 innings, struck out 17 and issued 11 walks with a 2-0 record. The Winston-Salem reliever has recorded a 3.44 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .188 when he is on the mound. |
