Un-four-gettable: Matthiessen Hits for Cycle Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 Most fans have never seen a player hit for the cycle, and most players have never done it -- but it happened today at Champion Stadium. Will Matthiessen of the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates accomplished the feat against Atlanta (GCL) Braves. Matthiessen went 4-for-6 with 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run in the 14-4 Pittsburgh (GCL) victory. "That was one for the grandkids, am I right?" Matthiessen said after the game. Matthiessen also scored 1 run and had 6 runs batted in in a day to remember for both Matthiessen and the crowd at Champion Stadium. Will Matthiessen flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Andrew Gnazzo in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 9th. |
