De La Cruz Goes 5-for-6 Thursday, July 2nd, 2020 Philadelphia E (GCL) right fielder Carlos De La Cruz had a big day at Joker Marchant Stadium today against the Detroit E (GCL) Tigers East. The 20-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Phillies East to a 11-8 triumph over Detroit E (GCL). "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," De La Cruz said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Carlos De La Cruz doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 8th, flied out in the 9th and hit a two-run single in the 10th. In 5 games this season De La Cruz has batted at a .455 pace with 5 hits and no home runs. |
