Scherzer Handcuffs Thunder Choppers, Kings Seize 2-1 Advantage in CS
Max Scherzer pitched a gem to help the Virginia Kings escape with a tight 1-0 victory over the New York Thunder Choppers in a low-scoring Championship Series contest today. The right-handed Scherzer threw 8 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Kings on a day when their offense dried up. Virginia now leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.

Scherzer allowed no runs on 5 hits over 8.2 innings for the Kings. He walked 0 and struck out 9.

"I liked his command," said Virginia manager . "Max was throwing strikes."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Kings Park in Vienna. Slated to start are Shane Bieber for the New York Thunder Choppers and Justin Verlander for the the Virginia Kings.
