Acuna Jr. Hits 2 home runs in Braves Win
|
With right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. leading the charge, the Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets, 17-5, at Citi Field. Acuna Jr., who is tied for 4th in the NL with a .942 OPS, slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 5 runs and driving in 5. Bryse Wilson, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Atlanta is now 17-18. New York is 24-9.
It could have been a different outcome for Atlanta, had it not been for Ender Inciarte, the three-time Great Glove Award winner . Inciarte contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Atlanta up, 2-0.
"We maximized our offense today," said Atlanta skipper Brian Snitker. "That makes everyone's life easier."
