The Seattle Mariners took Houston pitcher Josh James's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Minute Maid Park. The final score had Seattle getting past the Astros, 3-2. James went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Taylor Guilbeau recorded the save for Seattle, his 7th of the season. The Mariners sport a record of 16-26.

The result might have been different, had it not been for Kyle Seager, the Seattle third baseman. Seager had a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 3-2. For the game, Seager had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We were in it," said Houston manager Dusty Baker. "We just didn't score enough runs."
