Pirates Stun Mets, 6-4
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets.
The New York Mets got a sterling performance from pitcher Steven Matz, but the Pittsburgh Pirates still prevailed, 6-4. Matz threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. The second-place Pirates now have a win-loss record of 19-24.
Pittsburgh used a clutch hit from Ke'Bryan Hayes to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hayes told a Pittsburgh Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
