Indians Defeat Reds, 3-1
|
The Cleveland Indians faced a tough opponent in Cincinnati pitcher Trevor Bauer, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Progressive Field by a final score of 3-1. Bauer went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Cleveland reliever Daniel Stumpf was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Pedro Strop. The Indians lead the American League Central Division by 3 games.
Cleveland won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With no outs and Pedro Strop on the mound for Cincinnati, designated hitter Franmil Reyes hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Indians fans to their feet.
Reyes said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
