The Washington Nationals outscored the Miami Marlins, 12-10. Eric Thames led the way, going 3-for-4 for Washington. Washington reliever Bobby Poyner was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Ryne Stanek took the loss. Jacob Condra-Bogan closed the game out for Washington, earning his 1st save.

Thames had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Ryne Stanek, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Nationals a 11-10 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Thames.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Thames.

The win puts Washington at 32-18 this season.
