The Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Yankees grabbed a win, 5-4, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, overcoming a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani went 0 innings and allowed no runs. New York reliever Adam Ottavino picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Kyle Keller took the loss. Aroldis Chapman earned the save for New York, his 10th.

New York needed the clutch hitting of Gary Sanchez to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-4. For the game, Sanchez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sanchez said.

With the victory, the Yankees upped their record to 31-28.
