The Houston Astros got a sterling performance from first baseman Yordan Alvarez, but the New York Mets still prevailed, 11-10. Alvarez was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner was Rick Porcello, who threw 81 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits. The Mets got a big hit from right fielder Michael Conforto. In the bottom of the fifth, Conforto pounded a run-scoring double to left. His 16th double of the season put the Mets ahead, 11-4.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Conforto said.

The win for the Mets raised their record to 41-19.
