The Cleveland Indians defeated the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, in American League action at Kauffman Stadium. Cleveland pitcher Aaron Civale had a standout performance. Civale went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-0. Brad Hand was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 14 save opportunities.

Roberto Perez had a nice at-bat for the Indians with no one out in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded, the catcher hit a 2-run double, which would prove important in the Cleveland win.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Civale. "Successful pitchers do it."

The victory gives the Indians a record of 39-26.
