Nationals Win at New York, 6-4
|
The New York Mets got a superb performance from catcher Wilson Ramos. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Nationals won the game, 6-4. Ramos went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Michael Wacha, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-3. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Will Harris notched his 11th save in 12 chances.
Washington used a well-timed hit by Yan Gomes to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Nationals ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Gomes said.
The victory gives Washington a record of 44-24.
