Indians Jolt Rangers, 3-1, with Late Rally
|
The Cleveland Indians beat the Texas Rangers, 3-1, at Globe Life Field. Starting pitcher Mike Clevinger was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winner was Cleveland reliever Nick Wittgren, now 3-1. The loser was Josh Fields. Brad Hand notched his 13th save in 16 chances.
Cleveland used a timely hit from Domingo Santana to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Indians ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Clevinger said after the game.
With the win, Cleveland upped its record to 43-29.
