New York Mets starter Noah Syndergaard was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 5-3. New York reliever Edwin Diaz picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Brad Wieck was tagged with the loss. Robert Gsellman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities.

New York used the timely hitting of Robinson Cano to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mets on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Cano attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."

With the win, New York raised its record to 47-26.
