Blue Jays Deal Pirates 4-1 Defeat
|
Toronto got a strong outing from Nate Pearson as the Blue Jays defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-1, at PNC Park. Pearson, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 1 walk. Ken Giles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 15 save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Derek Fisher, the 26-year old right fielder . Fisher contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Toronto up, 2-0.
"Nate just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Toronto manager Charlie Montoyo.
The Blue Jays saw their record improve to 34-44.
