Twins Upend Astros, 5-3
|
Good production from designated hitter Nelson Cruz helped the Minnesota Twins topple the Houston Astros, 5-3. Cruz was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Twins. Picking up the win was Jose Berrios. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 1 and walked 2. Taylor Rogers was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 14 save opportunities.
Minnesota grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Cruz, who finished 4th in the AL in on-base percentage with .392 last year, hit a 2-run double. His 13th double of the season put the Twins out in front, 3-1.
Cruz said his team "played with determination."
The first-place Astros have lost 4 consecutive games.
