Thrilling Victory Pushes Yankees Win Streak to 5

Gary Sanchez left his imprint on the 8-6 New York win against the Chicago Cubs. Sanchez, who is on pace to hit 42 home runs this season, went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. New York reliever Chad Green picked up the win to move to 5-4. Trevor Megill suffered the loss. Aroldis Chapman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 23 save opportunities.
Sanchez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Craig Kimbrel, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Yankees a 8-6 lead. It was the 22nd home run of the year for Sanchez.
"I believe in our guys," said New York skipper Aaron Boone. "I like the energy they're playing with."
The win puts New York at 49-35 this season.
