|
Boston Red Sox starter Collin McHugh was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-3. McHugh, now 5-7, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 12, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Ryan Brasier earned his 2nd save in 2 chances.
In the bottom of the first, Rafael Devers hit a 2-run home run. The 17th home run of the season for the Boston third baseman put the Red Sox on top, 2-1.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Toronto manager Charlie Montoyo. "But we decided not to take it."
The third-place Red Sox lifted their record to 45-46.
