Stanton Helps Yankees Win, 10-5, with Pair of Homers
|
The New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers, 10-5, at Yankee Stadium. The win was due in part to left fielder Giancarlo Stanton, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Masahiro Tanaka earned the win to go to 8-5. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. New York now has a record of 57-37 with the win.
Stanton had a key at-bat for New York early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 27th home run of the season and gave New York an early 3-0 lead.
"We came out aggressive," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. "We came out swinging the bats."
