Cubs Win, 8-5, at Atlanta
|
Chicago and Atlanta duked it out and the Cubs came out victorious.
The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at Truist Park, taking down the Atlanta Braves, 8-5. Starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood was a big reason why. Chatwood went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-8. Craig Kimbrel converted his 20th save in 24 tries.
Ian Happ, the 25-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Happ contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Chicago up, 3-2.
"Tyler -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Cubs manager David Ross. "He was the key to us winning."
At 47-49, Chicago is in second place in the National League Central Division.
