Syndergaard Guns Down Nationals
|
The Washington Nationals had no answer today for New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 6-0. Washington managed only 1 hit off Syndergaard, who had 9 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Syndergaard got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Mets fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
