Marlins Win in Extras
|
The Marlins faced a stiff challenge from Washington pitcher Max Scherzer, but persevered to claim a win at Marlins Park. The final score was 2-1. Scherzer went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. The Marlins, now 5-2, have been on a roll in the early going.
The Marlins relied on left fielder Corey Dickerson for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 17th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Miami field general Don Mattingly.
