Mariners Win at Oakland, 5-3
|
The Seattle Mariners picked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, knocking off the Oakland Athletics, 5-3. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker played a key role in the triumph. Walker picked up the win for Seattle, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 1-2. Taylor Guilbeau earned the save, his 3rd, for the Mariners.
It could have been a different outcome for Seattle, had it not been for Braden Bishop, the 26-year old center fielder . Bishop contributed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put Seattle up, 2-0.
"Taijuan -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Mariners manager Scott Servais. "He was the key to us winning."
Oakland drops to 11-9.
