Rondon Takes Tumble Over Tarp Friday, June 5th, 2020 "I just need to pay closer attention to my surroundings," chuckled Jose Rondon of the Orioles, after tripping over the automatic tarp at Oriole Park at Camden Yards this afternoon. The tarp had been rolled out as the result of a brief rain shower during afternoon practice. Rondon raced out onto the field as the tarp was being rolled up and, after being momentarily distracted, stepped awkwardly on the edge of the mechanism. Having apparently twisted his ankle, Rondon immediately fell to the ground and writhed in pain for a few moments. "It looked pretty painful", said teammate Jose Iglesias. Rondon was able to make light of the incident, despite the fact that it might cost him a game or two. "Hey, I'm lucky," Rondon said with a smirk. "Those things can be real death traps!" |
