Tarp Trip More Serious Than Thought for Rondon
Sunday, June 7th, 2020
What seemed comical at the time has turned out to be no laughing matter for Jose Rondon of the Orioles. The shortstop joked with teammates after stumbling over the renegade tarp and twisting his left ankle. However, the ankle swelled over the next few days and tests revealed Rondon had actually suffered a high ankle sprain. The revised diagnosis is bad news for Baltimore, since it means Rondon may be out for a month or more. The Orioles are currently at 33-32 and in second place in their division. Asked if the team may need to explore trade options, manager Brandon Hyde said, "It's too early to tell at this point. We'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it."
