Kings Need Extra Frames to Get Past Mavericks
|
Fans who congregated at DK Memorial Field were treated to extra-inning drama.
Virginia Kings right-hander Max Scherzer pitched a good game against the Maui Mavericks at DK Memorial Field, leading his team to victory, 6-3. Keone Kela, now 4-4, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Earning the save was Hector Neris. He's now cashed in 25 of 27 save opportunities.
Jonathan Villar, the 29-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Villar contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Virginia up, 4-3.
"I really like what we did out there today," Scherzer said after the game.
The victory gives Virginia a record of 59-57.
