Philadelphia Drops Houston, 4-2
|
The Philadelphia Phillies overcame a good performance by Houston designated hitter Josh Reddick to knock off Houston, 4-2, at Minute Maid Park. Reddick was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Zach Eflin got the win, improving to 1-3. He held the Astros to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Philadelphia has 3 straight wins, Houston 3 straight losses.
Philadelphia used the bat of Didi Gregorius to get the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Phillies ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Gregorius told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
